DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- It took multiple police departments and multiple efforts, but law enforcement in the suburbs finally stopped a moving van that fled from officers this week.
Oak Brook police successfully deployed their "grappler" device to stop the van.
The device uses a bumper mounted net and tether to stop a vehicle.
The chase happened on the southbound Tri-State Tollway on Monday night, police said.
The incident started when the van drove away from Maywood police. Villa Park police then tried to stop it by deploying a tire deflation device. Officials said the van kept going.
Then, Villa Park and Oak Brook police tried to do the same, before eventually using the grappler.
Two people were taken into custody, police said.
