Vehicle hits, kills pedestrian in Park Ridge; Dempster closed for hours: police

PARK RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- A 55-year-old man was killed Friday morning when a vehicle hit him in the north suburbs, police said.

The crash took place just before 10:10 a.m. in the intersection of Dempster Street and Potter Road in Park Ridge, police said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The driver remained at the scene. The pedestrian has been identified as David Jutovsky of Northbrook.

The vehicle was turning onto eastbound Dempster from southbound Potter when it hit the pedestrian, who was crossing Dempster, police said.

Eastbound Dempster was closed for about six hours, as police continued to investigate the fatal crash.

The MCAT Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit is assisting Park Ridge police in the investigation.
