Kimberly McCarthy was executed in 2013, the first woman executed since 2010, after being convicted in Texas for murdering a 70-year-old woman in 1997.
Manling Williams was convicted on three counts of homicide in Calif. in connection with the death of her husband, Neal, 27, and their sons Devon, 7, and Ian, 3.
Tina Brown was sentenced to death for brutally killing 19-year-old Audreanna Zimmerman in Florida in 2010.
Kimberly Cargill was convicted in 2010 of killing her mentally-challenged babysitter in Texas, and dumping her body before the babysitter was to testify in a custody hearing.
Teresa Lewis of Va. executed in 2010 for the murders of her husband and stepson in 2002. She participated in a murder plan with two hitmen to gain insurance money.
Debra Brown is on death row in Ind. for the murder of a 7-year-old girl in 1984. Indiana has never executed a female offender.
Christa Pike of Tenn. was the youngest woman to be placed on death row when convicted of murder at age 20. In prison, Pike attempted to strangle another inmate with a shoestring.
Erica Yvonne Sheppard of Texas is on death row after robbing and murdering Marilyn Sage Meagher in 1993. Rev. Jesse Jackson has helped Sheppard attempt to appeal her sentence.
Blanche Moore of N.C. was sentenced to death after poisoning her first husband with arsenic in 1986. High levels of arsenic were also found in the bodies of 3 family members.
Emilia Carr (right), 30, is the youngest woman in the United States sitting on death row, and Tiffany Cole (left), 33, is the third youngest.
Brittany Holberg of Texas of sentenced after the murder of an 80-year-old man in 1996. The victim was stabbed more than 60 times and had part of a lamp shoved down his throat.
Cathy Lynn Henderson of Texas was convicted of murdering 3-month-old Brandon Baugh in 1994. Recently, new case information came to light and attorneys are trying to appeal.
Suzanne Basso, and four others, beat a 59-year-old mentally retarded man to death in Texas, 1984. Basso orchestrated the murder to collect insurance money.
