Man charged with criminal sexual assault of 2 boys in Portage Park, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have arrested and charged a 19-year-old suburban man with sexually assaulting two young boys in a Portage Park store.

CPD said Darren Powell, 19 of Crete, was arrested on Thursday in the 700 block of E. 111thStreet.

Powell is facing felony charges of predatory criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

Police said the crime happened on May 29 in a store in the 3900-block of N. Cicero Avenue.

The 19-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy and restraining an 11-year-old boy while in a bathroom, police said.

CPD previously released an image of the suspect.

Powell is due in court on Saturday.
