Alleged arson attack injures 2 firefighters; 1 in custody: officials

ROUND LAKE, Ill. (WLS) -- A suspect is in custody following an alleged arson attack that injured two firefighters in the north suburbs on Monday.

A fire broke out at a house in Round Lake in the 35300-block of Summit Place in the afternoon hours. Chopper 7 was over the scene around 4:45 p.m.

A Lake County sheriff's spokesperson told ABC7 that a tenant who was living on the property, but not the home, is suspected of setting the fire.

That person, whose identity was not immediately known, is in custody for aggravated arson.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the flames, the sheriff's spokesperson said.

The fire is being investigated.
