Man charged with shooting two women as they argued in South Austin, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man has been charged with shooting two women as they argued on Chicago's West Side on Sunday evening, police said.

Chicago police said the shooting happened in the South Austin neighborhood's 100-block of North Mayfield Avenue just after 8 p.m. Sunday.

Two women, 36 and 44, were arguing outside when 34-year-old William Hall allegedly approached them, took out a gun, and fired shots, striking them, police said.

Both women suffered gunshot wounds to their legs and were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition.

Officers took Hall into custody on the scene. He is now charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery/Use Deadly Weapon, two counts of Aggravated Battery/Discharge Firearm, and one count of Felony Possession of a Weapon, police said on Tuesday.

Hall is due in court on Wednesday.

Police did not immediately provide further information.
