Person found shot to death in South Chicago, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A person was found shot to death on the city's South Side on Saturday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said a male of an unknown age was found shot in the side and chest in the South Chicago neighborhood's 8000-block of South Marquette Avenue around 11:45 a.m.

The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His identity was not immediately known.

What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.

Area detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide further information.
