Woman dies after shooting in Englewood, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was fatally shot Friday morning on the city's South Side.

Chicago police say the woman was walking around 7:29 a.m. in the 6700 block of South Peoria Street in Englewood when she was shot in the chest and back.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, CPD said.

The victim's name has not yet been released.
