Large fire breaks out at South Shore home, spreads to neighboring building

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A large fire broke out at a South Side home on Tuesday evening, the Chicago Fire Department said.

Flames could be seen shooting out of the home in the South Shore neighborhood's 7400-block of South Merrill Avenue.

No one was injured, but the fire spread to a home next door before crews were able to get it under control.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the fire.
