American Airlines plane blows 2 tires while taxiing for takeoff at O'Hare airport, FAA says

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An American Airlines plane blew two tires while taxiing for takeoff Wednesday at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, the FAA said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene around 3 p.m., where emergency vehicles were surrounding an American Airlines plane.

Passengers were removed from the plane on stairs and were bused to the terminal, officials said.

There were no reports of any injuries.

This is at least the fifth incident in Chicago, the fourth at O'Hare, just this month involving blown tires on an aircraft.

The FAA is investigating.

American Airlines issued the following statement:
"Shortly after pushing back from the gate at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), American Airlines flight 3280 experienced a tire issue on the taxiway. Customers safely returned to the terminal and will re-depart shortly on a replacement aircraft. We never want to disrupt our customers' travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience this caused."
