Stolen SUV's driver crashes into two CTA buses, injuring six passengers on Near South Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The driver of a stolen SUV is in custody after he allegedly crashed into two CTA buses, injuring six people, on Chicago's Near South Side on Friday night, police said.

CPD said officers tried to stop the black SUV in the 2200-block of South State Street just after 8:15 p.m.

The driver then hit one bus, which was traveling southbound on State Street, before hitting a second bus, which was heading northbound on State Street.

Six bus passengers were taken to local hospitals in unknown conditions.

Officers took the driver, who was not injured, into custody.

No citations have been issued. Police did not immediately say whether the driver will face charges.
