LONG GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- The field of robotics is dominated by boys, but an all-girls team from northwest suburban Long Grove proves girls can build award-winning robots!

In February, The Moovers won the first place State Champion title in the FIRST LEGO League, which is a robotics program for 9 to 16-year-olds.

Claire Haas, Anisha Rao, Allison Chen, Isabel Lee, Rachel McCoy and Alexandra Reuter represent Woodlawn Middle School and Girl Scouts and The Moovers. The team is now headed to the National Tournament to represent Illinois in Carlsbad, Calif.

Besides their success in this competition, The Moovers have also launched the "Patriot Recreation Education Program" (P.R.E.P.) at Stevenson High School to coach and mentor a robotics team. The Moovers came into our ABC 7 Eyewitness News studio to talk about their success.
