Still Time to Plant: Summer gardening tips from Chalet Home & Garden

Think it's too hot to plant? Think again. Mid-July may feel sweltering, but garden expert Jennifer Brennan from Chalet Home & Garden says now is actually a great time to dig in.

With warm soil and more consistent weather, heat-loving perennials like coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, and daylilies can thrive. Summer shrubs like hydrangeas and butterfly bushes also do well when planted now.

Just don't forget to water, Brennan recommends early morning hydration and the "4-quadrant count-to-5" method to beat the heat.

Chalet also hosts weekly gardening events, including Saturday farm truck visits and a July 27 lecture on hummingbirds and pollinators.
