MUNDELEIN, Ill. (WLS) -- One person was taken into custody after a police pursuit in Mundelein Wednesday morning, police said.
Mundelein police said they responded at about 2:12 a.m. to a call of a person bleeding in a parking lot in the 1100-block of West Maple Avenue.
Officers arrived and found a person in a black pick-up truck leaving the shopping center parking lot, police said.
Police attempted to stop the truck and the driver refused to stop, with the truck driving at low speeds and stopping before fleeing as officers attempted to make contact, police said.
Officers could see the driver was covered in blood, police said.
The chase continued to the intersection of Illinois Route 60/83 and Diamond Lake Road, where the pick-up truck hit a Lake County Sheriff's Department squad car, police said.
The driver got out of the car and was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, police said.
The driver was transported to Condell Medical Center for unspecified injuries, which police said were self-inflicted. Police said initial reports of a shooting were not accurate.
Two Lake County Sheriff's deputies and a Mundelein police officer were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
