19-year-old killed in apparent drive-by shooting in West Lawn, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 19-year-old man was killed in an apparent drive-by shooting on the city's Southwest Side early Saturday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the West Lawn neighborhood's 4000-block of West 69th Street just before 2 a.m.

The man was standing outside when someone shot him in the lower back multiple times, police said.

The victim was taken to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the shooter may have been traveling in a vehicle when the attack happened.

No other injuries were reported.

Area One detectives are investigating. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
