Chicago's push to become quantum hub: Where's the funding coming from?

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Plans are still in motion for a quantum development project in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood.

More than $1 billion has already been committed to the 128-acre Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park, or IQMP. Most of that funding is from the state.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

The hope, political leaders have said, is for IQMP to grow into another Silicon Valley, a global center for emerging technology. However, some residents remain skeptical of the benefits for the surrounding community.

Illinois Answers Project is conducting a three-part explainer series, with a data-driven look at public and private investment for the project.
