Woman attacked in North Center home invasion; 1 in custody, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was attacked in a home invasion in North Center Friday morning, Chicago police said.

The incident took place at about 12:02 a.m. in the 4200-block of North Lincoln Avenue.

Police said a 23-year-old woman was inside her apartment when she saw a man enter through the front door.

The woman attempted to fight off the man, who hit her in the head before he fled, police said.

A 36-year-old suspect was taken into custody and charges are pending. The woman had a laceration to the head, but declined medical attention at the scene, police said.
