WOODSTOCK, Ill. (WLS) -- A woman was ordered detained Friday afternoon after she allegedly set a fire inside a north suburban Walmart, the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office said.
Adilyn Monette, 21, is accused of setting the fire on New Year's Eve night, inside the Walmart on Lake Avenue in Woodstock, McHenry County Sheriff's Office documents said.
The state's attorney's office said Monette entered the Walmart around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, and surveillance video shows her taking a can of camping fuel from the camping equipment aisle, placing it in a cart, and heading to the baby/infant section of the store.
After returning to the camping aisle to retrieve another can of fuel, Monette went back to the baby/infant aisle. She poured the fuel on multiple cribs and set them on fire before leaving the store, the state's attorney's office said.
Monette fled the scene, but Woodstock police found her through the registration on her vehicle.
No one was hurt, but shoppers and staff were forced to evacuate, fire officials said. The building's sprinklers put out the flames.
Officials estimate that the fire caused more than $10,000 in damage. The store will be closed again Friday.
Monette is charged with felony aggravated arson.
She also has a pending arson charge out of Colorado, for which she was placed on supervised release pending trial, the state's attorney's office said.
Monette is due back in court on Wednesday.
