Woman found shot to death in Woodlawn alley identified by officials

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was found shot to death in a South Side alley early Sunday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the woman, 36, was found in the Woodlawn neighborhood's 6400-block of South Drexel Avenue around 4:30 a.m.

The victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body, was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

She was identified as Kiara Jenkins, 36, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Officials said she lived in the same block where the shooting happened.

What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.

No one is in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information.
