New snowblower allows neighbor to continue community snow clearing

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A very thoughtful 85-year-old Chicago man is all smiles after getting a new snowblower that he plans to put to good use.

For 35 years Albin Hoffman has cleared the driveways and sidewalks of his neighbors in the West Lawn community, but his old snowblower broke at the end of last winter.

Ariens makes snowblowers and heard Hoffman needed one, so Friday they delivered a fancy model. It even has a headlight.

Hoffman joked that he has mixed feelings about the gift.

"It feels great, but it spoils my retirement," he said.

Neighbors are thrilled Hoffman is going to be able to use his new toy all winter long.
