DePaul holds off Cleveland State 83-73 behind Cain

CHICAGO -- Eli Cain scored 26 points, Jalen Coleman-Lands added 15 points and DePaul used a late run to beat Cleveland State 83-73 on Wednesday night.

The Vikings led 48-47 on Kasheem Thomas' free throw after six second-half lead changes, but Cain's go-ahead 3 and Max Strus' layup made it a two-possession game. Cleveland State closed to 69-67 on Tyree Appleby's free throw with 4:39 left, but got no closer. Jaylen Butz's dunk sparked an 8-1 run and the Blue Demons won going away.

Paul Reed and Femi Olujobi added 11 apiece for the Blue Demons (4-1), who shot 55 percent. Butz scored 10 points and Strus made seven of DePaul's 20 assists.

Appleby scored 15 points with five rebounds and seven assists and Seth Millner added 13 points for Cleveland State (2-6), which trailed 34-31 at halftime. Hill scored 15 points and Thomas and Stefan Kenic added 11 apiece.
