Historic Metra trains make final trip

It was the end of the line for some historic Metra train cars.

The commuter rail line's final six original Highliner cars carried passengers from Chicago to University Park Friday morning.

The cars made their debut 44 years ago, offering air conditioning and cushioned seats to passengers for the first time.

But this edition started getting replaced 10 years ago with more powerful and efficient rail cars.
