Chicago author's novel 'Remarkably Bright Creatures' set to hit Netflix

A Chicago author is about to get a Netflix movie.

"Remarkably Bright Creatures" drops this Friday.

The movie stars Sally Field. It is based off of Shelby Van Pelt's wildly popular book about grief, unexpected connections, and new beginnings and yes, an octopus is involved. It's been on The New York Times best sellers list for 65 weeks.

Shelby Van Pelt and Olivia Newman, the movie's director, joined ABC7 to talk about the book and movie.
