CHICAGO (WLS) -- A powerful art exhibition is honoring the legacy of Emmett Till.
It's called "From Memory to Movement: Emmett at 85."
This collection invites guests to remember Till beyond his death by imagining a hopeful future where Black lives are protected.
Till was brutally murdered in 1955, after being accused of whistling at a white woman. His death went on to galvanize the Civil Rights Movement.
Now, seven decades later, the Emmett Till and Mamie-Till Mobley Institute are using art to create space for healing and hope, leading up to what would have been Emmett's 85th birthday.
Curator and creative director Raymond A Thomas joined ABC7 to discuss on Saturday morning.
