Last month was the hottest June globally on record, dating back to 1880 when scientists first started keeping track.

The average temperature over global surfaces was 1.3 degrees above the 20th-century average of 59.9 degrees.

This marks the second-straight month Earth set a warm-temperature record.

The U.S. experienced its 33rd-warmest June on record.
