Forty-seven-year-old Kallat Mohammed was accused of using his police authority to extort protection payoffs from heroin and crack dealers.
Mohammed pleaded guilty in August.
Mohammed's superior is also charged in the scheme. Sergeant Ronald Watts has pleaded not guilty.
