SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (WLS) -- Teaching kids to how to cook is important for their development. Now a local restaurant is giving kids hands-on experience to safely learn how to grill.

Weber Grill Restaurant in Schaumburg is hosting classes to learn from professionals.

Chef Larry Donahue and Chef Dustin Green visited ABC7 to show off one of the desserts they'll teach at the class.

Hands On Kids Grilling Class at Weber Grill Restaurant Schaumburg

July 18, 10 a.m.-noon

1010 N Meacham Rd, Schaumburg, Ill.

Admission/Ticket Prices: $25 per person (not including tax), cost is per attendee, adult must accompany child for duration of the class.

Recipe:

Baked Cinnamon Apple

Ingredients:

*Please be very specific with the ingredients, measurements (in ounces, cups, etc., NOT grams/ liters) and cooking instructions.

4 Gala apples

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Vanilla ice cream

Aluminum foil squares (6 inches x 6 inches)

Preparation:

1. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl set aside

2. Cut apples with an apple corer

3. Place the cut apples is a foil square and top with the brown sugar mixture

4. Place on medium temperature grill (300 degrees) and cook for 15 minutes

5. Remove from grill and allow to cool for 5 minutes

6. Pour the apples and juice over ice cream
