June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness month. More than 220,000 Illinois residents are currently living with Alzheimer's disease. Since there is no treatment or cure for the disease - the sixth leading cause of death in the united States - that number will continue to grow. Help raise awareness about the effects of Alzheimer's by wearing purple on Friday and using the hastags #GoPurple and #ENDALZ on social media.

PRESS RELEASE

Hundreds of volunteers wearing distinctive green gardening aprons hit the streets to collect funds for the Alzheimer's Association in the 15th annual Bankers Life Forget Me Not Days.

Bankers Life, a Chicago based life and health insurance brand, is once again partnering with the Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois Chapter to plant seeds of hope and raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease.

On June 2-3, look for Bankers Life volunteers in your community as they collect donations and raise awareness for the Alzheimer's Association from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. On June 9-10, join Alzheimer's Association volunteers in the Chicagoland area as they collect donations and raise awareness at Jewel-Osco stores, popular intersections, and local businesses from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. They will be at these locations in downtown Chicago: Daley Plaza, 225 N. Michigan, Canal and Madison and 225 W. Wacker.

In exchange for a donation, patrons will receive packets of Forget-Me-Not flower seeds to plant in honor of a loved one and the more than five million people living with Alzheimer's.

Since 2003, Bankers Life Forget Me Not Days has raised more than $375,000 for the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, and more than $4.5 million for the Alzheimer's Association nationally. More than five million Americans are living with this disease, including 220,000 people in Illinois alone.

One hundred percent of the money collected will go to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois Chapter.
