CHICAGO (WLS) -- An act of kindness is getting a Chicago police officer a lot of attention on social media.

According to Chicago police, Sergeant B. Haggerty was at Chipotle on West Belmont when he saw a homeless man digging through the trash. The officer motioned for the man to come inside the restaurant and Haggerty bought him lunch.

The officer did not realize someone took a picture and posted it on Facebook. When asked about it, Haggerty didn't think he'd done anything out of the ordinary.

Many did, including the Chicago Police Department, which praised him for leading by example.
