EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- CTA officials said Yellow Line trains were temporarily halted in both directions due to police activity in Evanston Wednesday night. Commuters were advised to use the 97 Skokie bus instead.

Evanston police said officers conducting a normal traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2200-block of Howard Street, near the Target store, discovered the car was stolen. A man and woman then fled the vehicle, police said.

The woman was caught, but the man is still at large. Evanston police has called in assistance from Chicago police helicopters.

Evanston police were unable to locate the man. Yellow Line trains resumed normal service overnight.
