1-year-old Alonah Smith dies in accidental drowning on South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 1-year-old girl drowned Wednesday at her home on the city's South Side, officials said.

Alonah Smith was found unresponsive in the 6600-block of South Aberdeen in the Englewood neighborhood. She was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just after 10 p.m. Wednesday night

Chicago Police are investigating after the Medical Examiner ruled the girl's death as an accidental drowning.
