Man blames spider bite for crash
A man says a spider bite caused him to swerve his car into a motorcycle, causing a crash that injured two people.

GRANBURY, TX -- A north Texas man could face 20 years in prison after he says a spider bite caused him to swerve into a motorcycle, injuring two people.

Investigators say video of the crash taken by another biker shows Bill Crum, 68, crossing his vehicle over a double line when he suddenly veers into the motorcycle, KTVT-TV reports.

One of the motorcycle passengers suffered a broken wrist and deep lacerations requiring more than one surgery. The other passenger also sustained unspecified injuries.

Crum says the crash was caused when he was bitten by a spider, but prosecutors say they do not believe the claim because of statements recorded after the accident.

The cameraman who recorded the video can be heard saying, "What were you doing? You hit them!"

"I don't care," Crum responds.

Crum told a reporter on that particular road, "I've seen them do wheelies at 60 MPH and I thought he was one of them. I didn't know there was a passenger."

Crum is expected to face a judge at his bond hearing today. He faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
