NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- There are new details about the man who was allegedly driving drunk when he crashed his car, killing two friends.

Prosecutors say the three men had spent the evening drinking at a Naperville bar. When they left, Michael Szot, 21, allegedly drove his car off the road and into a quarry. He was able to swim to safety.

The Naperville Sun reports that Szot initially told police he had given his keys to quote "irresponsible friends."

Investigators say evidence shows that Szott was actually driving.
