Newsviews: I-DOT Road Construction

April 20, 2014 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- We're all happy to say goodbye to winter, but according to the old joke, here in Chicago, that means the start of the other season 'construction season.'

The Illinois Department of Transportation points to three major projects in the Chicago area this year: the Circle Interchange, the Stony Island feeder ramp and the Ohio Street bridge project.

And for I-DOT, the focus isn't only on the work itself but keeping drivers and employees safe by raising awareness of work zone safety. Joining us to talk about those topics and more were Omer Osman I-DOT's director of highways and John Fortmann, the deputy director of highways.
