Police snowmobile falls through ice in Barrington

An officer is safe after his snowmobile went through the ice on a lake in northwest suburban Barrington Thursday morning.

The crash took place on Baker Lake at Hillside Ave. and Bristol Dr. The snowmobile belongs to the Cook County Forest Preserve Police.

The officer was not injured and was able to get safely back to shore. He was headed out on the snowmobile to help with restoration work on the lake.
