Preparations underway to mark tornado anniversary

WASHINGTON, Ill. (WLS) -- Preparations are underway in Washington, Ill. to mark one year since the town was devastated by a tornado as part of a rare November tornado outbreak.

Washington suffered the most damage and three people died.

Hundreds of homes were either damaged or destroyed and recovery efforts continue even a year later.

The American Red Cross says it is still addressing nearly 500 cases.

ABC 7 Eyewitness News will revisit Washington and other hard-hit communities for the one-year anniversary with special coverage beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
