CHICAGO (WLS) -- There was a show of support for Loop shooting victim Steven LaVoie's family on Wednesday. His kids' teachers and classmates are helping get them ready for the new school year.

They sent some hand-made "hope chests" filled with letters, pictures and treats.

LaVoie remains hospitalized in critical, but stable condition. His family says he continues to show signs of improvement.
