Visitation held for Nick Schultz, fallen Merrillville officer

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (WLS) -- Family and friends gathered Sunday to pay their respects to a fallen Merrillville police officer.

Visitation was held for Officer Nick Schultz, who was gunned down earlier this month while responding to a call.

An American flag was laid next to Schultz's uniform to honor him for his service.

The officer's funeral is Monday.

Classes have been cancelled for Lowell, Crown Point, and Merrillville schools for the proceedings.
