CHICAGO (WLS) -- In his final weeks as archbishop of Chicago, Cardinal Francis George presided over an awards ceremony Sunday at Holy Name Cathedral.

Cardinal George presented the Christifideles awards to parishioners from across the archdiocese for their exemplary ministry in their parishes.

One hundred forty-seven parishes participated in Sunday's ceremony with more than 200 honorees.

Cardinal George officially retires on November 18.

His replacement is Archbishop Blase Cupich of Spokane, Washington.
