Cardinal George visits Niles parish

NILES, Ill. (WLS) -- Francis Cardinal George had a couple of reasons for visiting a parish Saturday in suburban Niles.

During a service at St. John Brebeuf he gave a special blessing to the parish's "respect life coordinators."

The church said it was a good way for people to recommit to another year of pro-life ministry. The cardinal felt it was a very positive service.

"It's always an encouraging mass because these are people who are dedicated entirely to the ministry of serving human life and the gospel of life that is at the center of Christ's message for all of us," Cardinal George said.

The cardinal also had a chance to see renovations done at the church and nearby school buildings.
