Minds Matter Chicago hosts a Spring for the Students benefit on April 11, 2015 to raise money for their non-profit organization.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A non-profit helping Chicago-area students fulfill their college dreams needs your help to keep that dream alive. Minds Matter Chicago transforms the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by prepping them for college success.

Guidance counselors in various schools throughout Chicago, recommend sophomores to attend the program. Students who are interested must apply. Once accepted, each student is paired with 2 mentors who work together over the next 3 years. These mentors, college graduates and typically young Chicago executives, become role models to the students, and they often keep in touch for many years. Every summer Minds Matter Chicago sends each student to a college summer program of their choice, and ultimately to a 4-year college.
