ST. LOUIS -- Chicago Cubs outfielder Chris Denorfia will go on the 15-day disabled list with a pulled hamstring after leaving Monday's 10-9 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in the third inning.

"I hit second a little awkwardly, and when I got back up to sprinting speed, I felt a little something," Denorfia said after the game.

Denorfia was rounding second and heading to third when the injury occurred. He began the season on the disabled list with the same ailment.

"It's the third time I felt something in the same spot," Denorfia said.

Denorfia was off to a good start to his season, hitting .429, including a hit in each of his first two at-bats on Monday.

Outfielder Matt Szczur was pulled from a Triple-A Iowa game and will take Denorfia's place on the roster.

Szczur made the team out of spring training when Denorfia first injured his hamstring.
