Honoring heroes at the 100 Club of Chicago Valor Awards
Some of Chicago area's heroes, who performed above the call of duty, are being honored by the 100 Club of Chicago.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Some of Chicago area's heroes, who performed above the call of duty, are being honored by the 100 Club of Chicago. The 36th Annual Valor Awards will celebrate the contributions of police officers and firefighters on April 26, 2016. This year, the 100 Club of Chicago will acknowledge the heroism of 12 individuals: Firefighter Joseph Martinelli, Sergeant Michael Cavanaugh, Officer Michael Bunyon, Officer Ryan Krolikowski, Officer Ivan Romo, Officer Eric Wicencyjusz, Officer Michael Guzman, Firefighter Juan Lopez, Firefighter Reid Mammoser, Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Jonathan Cashmore, and Captain Matthew G. Berk of the Flossmoor Fire Department.



The award ceremony is open only to 100 Club of Chicago members. Joseph Ahern, CEO of the 100 Club of Chicago, and Chicago Firefighter Joseph Martinelli, joined ABC 7 Eyewitness News to talk about the Valor Awards. Martinelli is credited with saving the life of a fellow firefighter during a bowling alley fire on August 31, 2015 when the building began collapsing.
