18-year-old motorcyclist killed in Mount Prospect crash ID'd: police

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (WLS) -- An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a north suburban crash on Tuesday morning, Mount Prospect police said.

Police said the crash happened around 6 a.m. near Algonquin Road and Briarwood Drive.

The motorcyclist was riding eastbound on Algonquin Road when he hit the back of a grey pickup truck, whose driver was getting ready to turn left into a private driveway, police said.

The driver of white-colored pickup truck, which was traveling eastbound on Algonquin Road, was also involved in the crash.

The motorcyclist was identified as Daniel Vazquez, an 18-year-old Mundelein man.

The two pickup truck drivers, a 19-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman, were not injured in the crash.

Algonquin Road was closed between Dempster Street and Embers Lane until about 1 p.m.

The Mount Prospect Police Department Major Crash Investigation Team and the Major Case Assistance Team's Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash. Police asked anyone with information to call them at 847-818-5301.
