CHICAGO (WLS) -- At least 10 people have been shot, three fatally, in gun violence across Chicago so far this weekend, police said.

Man shot to death in alley in South Chicago, police say

A man was shot to death in a South Side alley on Sunday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the South Chicago neighborhood's 8000-block of South Escanaba Avenue just after 9:15 a.m.

A 48-year-old man was standing in an alley when someone shot him, police said.

The victim was transported in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

No one is in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating.

Suspect shoots victim in North Austin, exchanges gunfire with responding officer: Chicago police

A suspect exchanged gunfire with a Chicago police officer after allegedly shooting someone on the West Side early Saturday, officials said.

CPD said officers responded to a call about shots fired near North and Waller avenues in the North Austin neighborhood around 12:45 a.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, they saw someone shooting at a person on the ground, police said.

Police said the person shooting then fired at the responding officers, striking their squad car. One officer returned fire.

It was not immediately clear how many rounds were fired.

The suspect fled the scene but was taken into custody a short time later, police said.

Police said the person on the ground suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition.

No officers were injured, and three guns were recovered from the scene.

Charges against the suspect are pending.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is now investigating the use of force, and the officers involved will be placed on routine administrative leave.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information.

Man shot, killed in South Chicago; 1 in custody, police say

A person is in custody in a South Chicago homicide investigation, Chicago police said.

The shooting happened at about 4:32 a.m. in the 8400-block of Kingston Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood.

A man, 24, was shot in the stomach. He was taken to University of Chicago Hospital where he died.

One person was taken into custody. Charges were pending.

2 shot, 1 fatally in South Shore: CPD

A man was shot to death on the city's South Side on Saturday, according to Chicago police.

The shooting happened at about 12:36 a.m. at a home in the 1700-block of E. 67th Street, police said.

Police said a woman, 23, was shot in the face and neck. She was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

A man, 23, was shot in the chest and abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.

There is no one in custody and Area One detectives are investigating.
