CHICAGO (WLS) -- Snow moved into the Chicago area creating slick conditions Friday.

Flurries to light snow are expected to continue in the afternoon with an additional half an inch of snow except for Northwest Indiana, which could see more, ABC7 Accuweather Meteorologist Tracy Butler said.

Areas to the north and west could see snow taper off between 12-2 p.m., while areas closer to the city and south could see snow wrap up around 2-4 p.m., with snow in Northwest Indiana ending between 4-6 p.m., Butler said.

Snow has fallen across the Chicago area Friday, creating slick conditions on roadways.

The Department of Streets and Sanitation has deployed salt spreaders in response to snow, with crews focusing on arterial streets, DuSable Lake Shore Drive as well as bridges and overpasses.

Meanwhile, a ground stop was issued for planes arriving at O'Hare Airport before being lifted shortly before 9 a.m.. As of 10:08 a.m.. 101 flights have been cancelled at O'Hare and 30 flights have been cancelled at Midway.

The high Friday is 30 degrees, with a low of 22.

There's also a chance for snow Sunday, but only a dusting of about 1-inch is expected, Butler said.
