DuSable bust dedicated in Chicago

October 17, 2009 (CHICAGO) A crowd cheered, and many waved Haitian flags, in honor of the Haitian-born fur trader.

Both the state and the city have proclaimed that DuSable was Chicago's founder.

The bronze sculpture is at the north side of the Chicago River and Michigan Avenue. The site is a national landmark because its where DuSable's settlement, which is considered the beginning of Chicago, was located.
