Reggis Washington was shot in the back April 2 in the 6900-block of South Wabash.
Washington was a 10th grade student at Innovations High School of Arts Integration with Youth Charter Connection School.
Relatives say that it was only months ago that he came to live with his grandparents for a better life.
No one has been arrested in the case.
