Gates died at his Dana Point home April 16 after battling cancer. He was police chief from 1978 to 1992.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on the grounds of the police administration building, in the /*Ronald F. Deaton Civic Auditorium*/ at 100 West First Street in Downtown Los Angeles.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the /*Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels*/.
