One of the world's most sought-after photographers, Nigel Barker has been capturing beautiful images for more than 20 years.
This fall, Nigel will release his first book The Beauty Equation. Casting aside conventional rules (be tall! be skinny! have flawless skin!) Nigel shares the elements that, when added together, equal true beauty. The Beauty Equation offers tips and advice on fashion, style, hair, and make-up, showing readers how to turn perceived negatives into positives, celebrate their uniqueness, and be their personal best.
Nigel began his career as a model for top designers & photographers. As his love for fashion grew, so did his desire to create beautiful images as a photographer. Nigel opened his own studio in New York's Meat Packing District in 1996 and his photography career took off. His work has since appeared in such publications s as GQ, Interview, Paper, Lucky, Seventeen, Cover, Razor Red, People and more.
Nigel uses his success and the power of photography to spread his humanitarian message to a vast audience through his work with several charities. He has created films, PSA's and traveling exhibits for Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Do Something organization and The Humane Society.
For his latest humanitarian effort, Nigel teamed up with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation to create "Generation Free," a documentary that highlights the successes and challenges in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS.
Nigel is equally as successful in front of the lens as a photographer and judge on the hit show "America's Next Top Model." Now in its 14th season, the show airs in over 125 countries and reaches more than 100 million viewers each week. His ever expanding presence in the industry has resulted in many new projects including the creation of his own show on VH1, "The Shot." He also directs and produces films, commercials, documentaries and advertising campaigns.
Nigel Barker lives in New York City with his wife, Cristen, and their two children Jack and Jasmine.
